Christmas

Ooooh I like Christmas but this year wasn't like last year cause we didn't have any snow :( and I didn't felt like Christmas at all until we brought the Christmas tree and I baked some gingerbread!

I had time to experiment some new recipes. First I tried to cook oatmeal cookies in my way and they turned out delicious!!! And than I tried Nadja Kaarma's (she's a confectioner in Anni Arro's cafe) cheesecake wt cherries and it was more than delicious I don't even have words to describe how good it was at least for me.

Unfortunately I can't give you the recipe of the cheesecake cause I looked it up from the book which I got for my relative as a gift :) but but but I will visit her and get a copy of it because I'm goin to make this cake more and more and more!

But in oatmeal cookies I used a regular oatmeal cookie recipe and in the mixture I added some orange and lemon skin and juice it gives them freshness and good aroma. And when the cookies were ready and cooled I melted some dark chocolate and spreaded it under the cookies. In the future I wanna try also wt white chocolate:)

Starlight Cabaret at Sokos hotel Viru

11.11.2011 magic night out wt my girlfriends-what a night! Went first time to a'la carte dinner and it was great the food was delicious and the show was very interesting. I totally recommend to visit it.

And now a little bit about that food njom njom njom :)

The appetizer was pistachio Brioche/apple-rhubarb relish

My main course was a duck in the easily smoked fruit tea/mushroom risoto wt beet in blueberry-raspberry dressing. We got to choose in 3 different main courses (duck,deer and fish)

And desert..oh it was a tease:) the cold passion chiboust/ icy raspberry frappe and a hot chocolate cake.

TOPS

TOPS is not only a bar on the Kalamaja's corner it's definitely more. It takes you back to the Soviet Union times. Everything is thought through- tableware, furniture, little details like old record player, you can even choose music to play, there is also some old magazines to read. Food menu is simple but good. We had salads but there are also soups and sandwiches and ofcourse something sweet too :) But I think mainly TOPS is more the place where you can take your close friends on Friday night get something good to drink and have a nice time wt your besties and maybe get some new friends too. Oh and I read that on Wednesday evenings are jazz music evenings so I suggest to visit it!!!!:)

Komeet and Anni's cafe

Anni Arro is definitely one of my favorite cook. She is only 28 years old and she already has two cafes and few cooking books. She's making Slow Food what is opposite to Fast Food. She studied in Italy and it has influenced also the menu of Komeet and Anni's caffe. Now a little description of both of them:

Komeet is a little bit glamorous and modern cafe for the city people who likes to meet up with their friends after work and enjoy good food and delicious cakes. (The cake menu changes after few months so it doesn't get drab.) I love to go there on summertime cause they have a outside terrace with a very nice view to Tallinn's city centre and old town churches.

Anni's cafe is in Haapsalu. I went there first time in this spring and I totally loved this little city. Someday I will buy a house there :) About the cafe: It's in her mothers art gallery- from the first floor you can buy a piece of art like her mothers paintings, her sisters ceramics and from the second floor you can buy also art a "food art". This cafe is totally different from Komeet. Firstly it's smaller and to me it's certainly cozier. It makes you feel like you step in someones home that cozy. The music, furniture, fresh flowers on tables, waitresses clothes everything is on the right place. Dishes are made from Liisu Arro and some tables by Jaak Arro. And ofcourse the FOOD is so GOOD I even started to like goat cheese and ofcourse CAKES are just delicious. Sunday mornings

Love Sunday mornings even though the next day is Monday but it's something in Sunday mornings what makes me feel good:) Today was a perfect autumn weather the sun was shining and I decided to take a little walk to oldtown ofcourse I had a purpose- there's one of my favorite bakery cafe Bonaparte:P I got a white chocolate croissant and a rasperry tarte with vanilla cream filling njam njamm it was so goooooood. Not too sweet, lots of rasperries perfect perfect perfect!

Little trip to Helsinki

A few weeks ago I went to Finland's capital city Helsinki for shopping. It was so nice to be out of country :) And ofcourse I couldn't walk by from goods stores..but unfortunately I had to be disappointed. There wasn't anything "luxurious " for me. I hoped to find some special chocolates or candies but nothing..maybe I didn't found these right stores but yeah this time I wasn't lucky. But the other side I got nice clothes and I got STARBUCKS mmmmmmh..it's been so long ago. They had those could latte's and from the shipstore I found cute Anthon Berg's marzipans- at least something!
